Scrap Attack: A quilt only a mother could love.

Scrap Attack: Tumbler edition

Seems like 2012 is the year of the scrap! Scrappy projects are popping up all over. I'm participating in Rachel's Scrap Attack, and I decided to face my bulging bin of scraps head-on.

I admit--there were times during this process when I wasn't sure if I was attacking the scraps or they were attacking me. But I persevered and sorted my scraps. I threw away any that were too small to be useful.

I pulled out any larger pieces. They belong with the rest of my fabric where I can find them.

Scraps wrangled into submission
I took any tumbler-size scraps and cranked them through my Go Baby, and I ended up with 456 tumblers.

Scrap Attack: Tumblers
I put the tumblers in a paper bag, shook them up, and pulled out random pairs and sewed them together. I ended up with this quilt top, which measures about 54 x 54 inches.

Scrappy tumblers: Close
It was fun to see all of these long-lost bits of fabric! Kind of a trip down quilty memory lane. It's definitely a loud and crazy quilt top...but I kind of love it.

The Go Baby is a godsend for scraps, isn't it? I have been turning tons of scraps into HSTs with it!

oooooh I'm pretty jealous of your go baby cheat! But I LOVE the completely random placement. It really looks great.

I love it! You sure put that together quickly. Yeah, you cut using the go baby, but still that's a TON of piecing. Way to go!

Katie, that is so cool! I can't believe how fast you got this together, either. Are you going to leave the sides zigzaggy like that?

Katie, this is absolutely fabulous!
What a wonderful idea! Now I need to buy the tumbler die!

Wow, this is really cool! Thank goodness for the Go Baby, I bet that saved you boatloads of time! What are you going to do about the edges? I'm such a chicken about edges like that, I would totally chop them off, so if you won't, I want to hear all about it!!
