Swoon quilt top: Now it's done.

Untitled
We have throw-size quilts coming out the wazoo around here, but bed-size quilts? Not so much. One of my goals this year is to remedy that by making queen-size quilts for our bed and the guestroom. When I realized the Swoon quilt (which finishes at 80x80) was just a border shy of being a queen, I figured it was worth the extra effort.

And it really wasn't that much effort. I used a charm pack plus some extra 5-inch squares I cut from my leftover fabric to make a bright, scrappy border.

I do love this fabric, with it's charming village scenes...

I'm really happy to be finished with this quilt top! I started it more than a year ago when Katy had her Swoon-along. It's  tempting to just slap a backing together to get this finished, but I'm going to jump aboard the Scrappy Swoon-Along to make a backing (and bust through some more of this fabric).

Beautiful! I really need to make one of these. The border is a great idea too! Why didn't I think of that? The 80 x 80 wasn't big enough for my bed. Perfect solution!

and I love the scrappy swoon along idea for the back... a lot, but so cute!

before reading the explanation my first thought was, cool border. A giant swoon for the back will be awesome.

I love the fabric and the scrappy border. I'm impressed with the pattern; I'm pretty sure I couldn't tackle that.

I understand your want and need for bed sized quilts. I feel the same about my house. I am so glad to see a bed quilt made.

Looks fantastic! I haven't seen those swoon blocks in person, now I really get how big they are! Are you going to quilt it yourself? I love doing bed size quilts, but the quilting is the problem.

This quilt has turned out so lovely, well worth a years effort! I have a quilt for Swoon already to go, in the Ruby prints, but I'm struggling to get time to start it. I like the idea of adding a border. I was thinking of doing the same. We have quilts of all sizes coming out the wazoo in our house! Kids need 4 each right?!

So wonderful! And I love your bed-quilt goal. I think we need some of those as well.

Have fun with all that space to create a scrappy back! You may end up loving it as much as the front, then you'll have a reversible quilt.

The frame that the border of squares gives those blocks is perfect. Absolutely perfect!
