I appliqued Luke's name on the sling using the double dots fabric from the same line. In hindsight, I wish I'd used a solid fabric so his name would show up better. Alas.
You just slide 4-foot-long dowels into the little pockets, then attach them to the wall using these cool double curtain rod brackets. I got the dowels at Lowe's. I picked up the brackets at JoAnn's because they were on sale for $4 for the pair.
Luke always ends up with a pile of books on his bed. Now he can keep them in a place he can reach.
Hmm. Looks like I've just about run out of things to cover with robot fabric....
I know my son looks like a studious little model here, but in the spirit of keeping it real...
Most of the pictures turned out like this.

What a great way to store books! I know that this isn't what this post it about, but the quilt and pillows on the bed are fabulous... and the robot wall hangings!
That is darling, I love it!
Brilliant! I need to make one for each of my little guys!

Heck this would be great on my side of the bed! It looks like he is truly enjoying it. How fun!
I LOVE THIS!!!! i have all the things to make one of these for my son and i have had them for awhile. mostly i just wanted something for books in his room that did not take up floor space since he does not have much. i have to go and see if this is the same tutorial i was going to use.
That is such a great idea! Wow! My future step-daughter is a big reader and her books are always allll over the place. And she would love a handy thing like this, I think! I might have to put it on my list of to-do's! I agree a different color for the applique name would have been better. I didn't notice the name was there in the first picture until after I saw the second! But he won't notice, right? Haha.
I just LOVE his room. It looks all special mommy made. Very cute!
I've been wanting to make a book sling like that for a while. It is such a great idea! Yours is really cute.

great idea and love the rest of the room too. thanks for visiting my blog ♥
This is the cutest boys room ever. If Robot fabric ends up looking as good as this does I vote it is totally fine to keep buying more! Love the booksling, such a good idea.
CUTE CUTE CUTE!! This has been on my to do list for way too long..I think I'll be making it a project for the weekend!
Love this idea! Definitely saving this one for my to do list!

Jaclyn
PS I've been reading your blog, fantastic!
What a fantastic way to keep the room clutter-free, and add some "pretty" to the walls! I'll have to try that when Little Moore is old enough to not attempt to use the book sling as a climbing rack! : )
Very cool invention!
