Wee robot quilts

The robot obsession continues. This week I made these three mini quilts. I found the tutorial on Stardust Shoes and knew it would be perfect for Luke's room. (The link to the tutorial isn't working...I'll update if I can figure it out.)

The finished size of each is about 12 x 12.

Love the eyes on this guy.

I appliqued the shapes and then echo quilted around them. This was really fun and makes for a cool effect.

I loved making these mini size quilts. They helped me practice some skills, especially the binding and mitered corners. Pretty tidy, if I do say so myself. Also, they're entirely made out of scraps I had on hand. Bonus.

Satisfied customer.

Now I just need to figure out how to hang them...

Be sure to check out more projects on Amy's blog!

Did you use a pattern or come up with this layout yourself???

I love these! Have you tried Scotch Adhesive strips for hanging? They work great for little quilts like this.

Absolutely cute!

Did you echo-quilt with a walking foot?? Your stitches are so even... that must have been a gazillion times of stopping and turning for all the echo lines!

Cheers,
Christine

Claire: It's a free tutorial on the Michael Miller web site. The link isn't working right now. I'll update it when it's fixed.

Sunshine: I used my regular presser foot. I don't really like my walking foot!

OMG! You are the craft master.

Very cute--kinda late now, but I really like hanging with triangles--just sew small squares folded into triangles into the corners when you sew on the binding. Then stick dowels in between and hang on a nail or whatever. You can write on one triangle as a label or hang another dowel in the bottom set as a weight, if necessary. Got the idea from the Alzheimers Art Quilt site.
