Teacher gifts
Luke's teachers are getting these little zippered pouches made using the Gathered Clutch tutorial from Noodlehead. I put a gift card inside. Done!
I had fun making these. You can see the linings in this photo. I had trouble getting the top corners (beside the zipper) to behave. Any tips?

I feel you on those corners - try out Kelly's simple zipper clutch tute over at KelbySews. She talks a lot about the math behind zippers and how to make sure they behave, especially those stubborn ends. I love the fabrics you used for the clutches, they look great! :)
LOve those clutches, they are so cute. And I second Elizabeth's suggestion. Kelly's tutorial really helped me for the pouch swap.
Super cute pouches!
I just make sure that my zippers (with their covered ends) are much shorter than the pouch itself, and then don't catch these ends in the side seams.
cute cute cute clutches! i love them. i need to make a couple... just to have on hand for gifts. and here is the link to the kelbysews tute... it really is helpful!

Love the pouches!! That happened to my last pouch too... so no advice from me, sorry! I'd be thrilled with that as a gift though! :)
Cool pouches! I like the light blue lining!
Ack, I need to give those clutches a try one of these days. When I get over my fear of zippers. Thanks for linking up to WIP Wednesday. : )
Your clutches are cute! I struggle with zippers sometimes too, it can be such a pain to get them to look decent in the corners. I always make my zipper (including the ends) a full inch shorter than the opening, that way I've got a 1/2" on each side when I put it in. When you sew the sides together, DO NOT sew over the zipper, just get as close to it as you can. If you don't catch the zipper in your seam, it'll lay pretty flat. I just finished up some small pouches this way & share them today if you'd like to see how they turned out.

I like your fabric selection for the clutches! What a great idea for a gift...tucking that one away in my back pocket for sure.
They're so cute! The teachers will be thrilled :)
Every time I make a clutch like that it is always funky behind the zipper tabs too! Don't know the fix for that one! They are beautiful!
Perfect little pouches! They are next on my list of short projects. Ummm.. How long did the first one take you!!?
Ohmygoodness. I have to make those clutches. They are just adorable. I haven't done a zipper before, but I'd be willing to try it to make those.
Too bad I'm not one of your son's teachers! Super cute pouches!
(Haha! I used Kelly's tutorial and trouble with the pesky corners even with that one! Must be me.)
Your gathered clutches are SO cute, though! Those are some lucky teachers! I think I got a coffee mug when I was teaching. :-/
I need to make myself some of those pouches. So cute!
LOVE those clutches!!! nice work miss Katie. (and as a teacher, I can say those are a great gift). ;)
Those pouches are lovely, nice presents!
LOVE the clutches. Doesn't Noodlehead have the best tutorials? I've done her bike basket and her zippy wallets too. I love the colors you did them in. I'll have to remember these for next year! This year was mug rugs!
