Okay, I promise this is the last post about Luke's robot quilt. I finally finished sewing on the binding today, washed the quilt, and put it on Luke's bed. I checked back on my blog: I started this on August 11. So glad to be done!
I cut the binding on the bias, which made my brain hurt a little. But I'm glad I did.
I was a little nervous that the red fabric would bleed when I washed it, but it didn't. (Whew!) The quilt came out of the dryer all crinkly and soft.
This is the best part.

Heart melting.... Adorable.
That is one cute quilt (and a sweetie, sweet boy).
You'll have to teach me about binding on the bias... I *just* might tackle it next. :)
beautiful. love the binding.
Adorable Katie! Did you use the tutorial I linked to for the binding?
it is nice to see softness in a boy's quilt, yet not sticky sweet. Very nice. Binding is the right icing for this cake.
I love it.....I made a robot quilt (different line of fabric though)for my nephew (who I think doesn't even like it) and I loved it so much that I wanted to keep it and give to one of my boys (who already have quilts and love them to death), but after much sighing, I decided to go ahead and send it because that was my original intent, plus I didn't want to make another quilt at last minute , since it was a christmas present.
Oh, and if you are worried about the fabrics bleeding....Shout Color Catchers...they are my live savers and work wonders....they catch are the loose dye while in the washer so that the dye doesn't get redeposited elsewhere on the article.
is adorable! what a fantastic quilt! Good job - who cares if it took an age to make - he will be able to treasure this for years to come and pass it down to his children!
Luke is sure to stay put in his bed with that fancy quilt.
Amazing! But I guess you've had to do something to keep your mind off me moving away.
Oooh, it looks so fluffy! It's also fun that I can recognize some of the robot quilts from my stash!
Cheers,
Christine
OMG I am in love, so sweet. What is that tiny robot print in the second photo??? That's not from the same line, is it?
That square is Robot Red Rover from Pocketful of Pinwheels. She's an independent designer who sells her fabric on Etsy.

I love that you can see the texture of the quilt which looks so comfortable in all it's cotton goodness.
Oh I could cuddle right up with him - cutest fabric!
Congrats!
LOVE. The binding looks amazing. And of course Luke loves it! Do you have any leftover fabric to make matching accessories?
Awwww... Cute finish.
So cute! Love the colors!
What a lovely quilt. And I love that he has a blankie, as well.
Katie, You are so smart and so talented. Beautiful quilt. What a great hobby. Too bad you don't live near your mom - you and she could kibbitz about all your sewing projects.
Grandma
