Even though I've seen this book on every best-seller and book club list, I had no idea what it was about. Turns out it's a novel written in epistolary form (English degree pays off!) about the German occupation of the English Channel Islands during WWII. I know that might sound dry, but the story follows the lives of the island's residents, and it's actually very interesting and charming.
If you haven't read it, check it out. If you have, what did you think?

Katie I loved this book. It was refreshing and funny and interesting. I have recommended it to everyone I know. Aunt T
You lost me at WWII.
or maybe epislotary
Natalie: It isn't about any real fighting in WWII. If I knew what epistolary meant, I'd be able to tell you my perspective on that, too. Give it a chance. Aunt T
Or epislotary. Aunt T again.
Jen Frazier wanted this to be our next book club book. Before our book club fizzled. Ha ha. I'm anxious to read it.
It is on my wish list on paperback swap. but there are a lot of people ahead of me so it's gonna be a while.
Our Mom read this and recommended this book but I haven't gotten to it yet. Mary
I don't think I'd heard of it, so no, you're not the last person.
I haven't read it. But then again, I haven't seen "Titanic" yet, so I may not be the best person to ask.
My sister-in-law lent it to me and I quite enjoyed it. It's a sweet, simple read and the story is really lovely - it's the perfect book if you just want to drift along and feel cozy, but the ending was a little unsatisfactory. It felt hasty, quite different to the rest of the book. Having said that, it didn't ruin my experience of reading it, so if it's on your list of books you'll one day get around to reading, keep it there.
Yes, i did read this book and really enjoyed it. No real war, just life during WWII. Charming

This is one of my favorite recent reads. I loved the writing (laughed out loud more than once) and the love story was so sweet. Practically perfect in every way.
