Michelle's dress: Love it or hate it?

While I love the idea of having a young, vibrant mother for a First Lady, I gotta say, I'm not loving Michelle Obama's election night dress. I definitely don't think she needed to wear something stodgy or Hillary Clinton-esque, but something about the pattern and the awkward sash just don't work for me. My fashion-savvy friend Jen tells me that the dress is by Narciso Rodriguez and that it received critical acclaim at New York fashion week. My friend Marilyn, who likes the dress herself, said that detractors are saying that the dress makes it look like Michelle's crotch and chest are ablaze. Ahem. What do you think?

I liked it better than a suit. But I would have liked it better if it was all one color.

Hated it! Absolutely hated it from the moment she walked out last night. So unflattering, she looked like she should be in the 360 mirror room on "What Not To Wear."

Eh, not a fan. Although I'd wear it to a UGA game. It would be at least a little better without the sash. But it's kind of a fancy dress, and that little sweater/shrug addition doesn't look right.

It reminded me of fire. Didn't love it. mm

I agree with mm. It reminded me of a blaze. Didn't love it. The kids looked cute, though. She is going to be a fashionista, though, so that will be fun to watch. Aunt T

I didn't like it. And I have liked most of the stuff she has worn.

Oh, and I hate the dress too. It's just ugly.

If you'd come back from the West Coast, you'd know all kinds of stuff about our lives.

Positively ugly!. She made a poor choice. It may look better in real life, but I doubt it. Her beginning as a fashionista is off to a poor start.

I hated her dress - I just shuddered when I saw it. I thought at first she was 5 months pregnant, then I thought she had a red fur apron on, then I realized it was part of the dress - and I thought "oh my". Well, let me not be the first to criticize her dress - I will pretend I didn't notice. So I kept quiet until today at lunch, my friend asked me what I thought of her dress.
